NATO launches Dynamic Front 26 military drills in Europe
Multinational military exercises Dynamic Front 26 involving NATO member states, including the United States, have begun in Europe, according to a press release by the U.S. Army Europe and Africa and the Romanian Defence Ministry's website.
U.S. forces, together with partner nations, are taking part in the drills, which began this week and are aimed at rehearsing NATO regional plans and enhancing the interoperability of artillery units.
The exercises are described as the U.S. Army’s largest artillery interoperability exercise in Europe and serve as the practical application of the Eastern Flank Deterrence Line (EFDL). The exercise focuses on integrating lethal and non-lethal effects across land, air, sea, cyber, and space to counter anti-access/area denial systems and massed forces. Unlike previous iterations,
The drills will run from January 26 to February 13 and will include live-fire exercises on the territory of several European NATO members.
Special emphasis is being placed on command and control, as well as the integration of operations across multiple domains, reflecting the realities of modern conflicts in which forces must be capable of operating at a distance, across national borders, and in different operational environments.
In Romania, the exercises involve the armed forces of Romania, the United States, Poland, and France.
