NATO's high-alert task force exercises kicks off in Sardinia

A NATO high-alert task force exercise has begun on the Italian island of Sardinia, La Repubblica newspaper reported on April 28.
They involve 2,200 troops from Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Luxembourg, as well as another 800 Italians.
According to the newspaper, at the site two Leopard tanks are involved, as well as self-propelled artillery Pzh2000 German-made. It is noted that the same weapons have been transferred to Kiev.
The exercises are coordinated by the NATO command center in Naples. They will last until 14 May.
At the same time, the Joint Stars exercise is due to begin; all units of the Italian army will be involved by 26 May to conduct joint operations involving aviation, the navy and ground troops.
