Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon "clear signal" to Hezbollah – defence minister
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that the recent Israeli Air Force strikes on military camps in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa Valley are a “clear signal” to Hezbollah, warning the group against rebuilding its military capabilities through its elite Radwan forces, Ynet reports.
“The strikes in Lebanon are a clear message to Hezbollah, which is seeking to restore its offensive capabilities against Israel using the Radwan force,” Katz said.
He also stressed that the Lebanese government bears responsibility for enforcing the ceasefire agreement. “This is also a signal to the Lebanese government, which is responsible for upholding the agreement,” he added.
Earlier today, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its air force conducted airstrikes targeting Hezbollah's elite Radwan Unit in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, hitting military camps used for training and weapons storage, according to a statement from the IDF’s press office. The strikes targeted operational hubs for the group’s special forces.
The Bekaa Valley has long served as a strategic stronghold for Hezbollah, providing proximity to both the Syrian border and central Lebanon.
