Russia launches massive drone attack on Ukraine overnight from six directions
Russia launched a large-scale overnight drone assault on Ukraine, deploying nearly 300 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from six different directions.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, the strike began on the evening of July 14 and continued into the early hours of July 15. In total, 267 attack drones—primarily Iranian-designed Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 models—were launched from multiple directions, including the Russian regions of Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Russian-occupied territories in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, Caliber.Az reports via RBC-Ukraine.
Ukrainian defence forces responded with a coordinated effort involving aircraft, anti-aircraft missile systems, mobile firing units, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and their own drones.
By 13:00 local time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that 178 of the attacking UAVs had been destroyed. In addition, 66 decoy or imitation drones were neutralized through electronic warfare measures.
At least 23 UAVs were shot down over seven different regions, while debris from the downed drones caused incidents in nine other locations.
