Netanyahu threatens Iran, Houthis over Ben Gurion Airport strike
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a warning to Yemen’s Houthi movement, officially known as Ansar Allah, and Iran, vowing retaliation following a strike on Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv.
Netanyahu made the statement via a post on X, Caliber.Az reports.
"Attacks by the Houthis emanate from Iran. Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport AND, at a time and place of our choosing, to their Iranian terror masters,” the prime minister wrote.
Netanyahu underscored that the attacks by the Yemeni group were orchestrated by Iran. He added that U.S. President Donald Trump had been right in asserting this origin of the assaults.
Note that, on March 17, Trump issued a stark warning to Iran, blaming it for orchestrating attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels and vowing that further aggression would provoke a powerful response.
In a fiery statement, Trump dismissed the Houthis as mere proxies, accusing Tehran of masterminding their actions.
"Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN," Trump said.
He warned that any future strikes by the Houthis would be treated as direct acts of Iranian aggression. "Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!"
Trump also dismissed Iran’s previous denials of direct involvement, accusing the Islamic Republic of pretending to be a victim. "Iran has played ‘the innocent victim’ of rogue terrorists from which they’ve lost control, but they haven’t lost control. They’re dictating every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, ‘Intelligence.’"
