New drug against coronavirus gets approval in Russia
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has registered a new coronavirus drug Skyvira based on nirmatrelvir and ritonavir, developed by the pharmaceutical company Promomed.

“A new drug for targeted etiotropic therapy of COVID-19 based on nirmatrelvir and ritonavir, created by Promomed Group of Companies using a unique technology, received a registration certificate on April 21, 2022,” the report says.
“Clinical studies have shown a pronounced antiviral effect of the new drug for the treatment of COVID-19, reducing the risk of disease progression to more severe forms and accelerating recovery. The directed mechanism of action on the viral protease determines the success of treatment, regardless of the strain of SARS-CoV-2. At the moment, the Skyvira drug from the Promomed company can be indicated for the outpatient treatment of a mild or moderate coronavirus infection in adults, ”said Vladimir Chulanov, chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, whose words are quoted in the message.
