New round of Ukraine talks concludes in Geneva

27 February 2026 10:49

Another round of negotiations on Ukraine has concluded in Geneva, according to Rustem Umerov, secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

Umerov said the discussions were conducted in two formats: separate bilateral meetings with representatives of the United States and a trilateral session involving US and Swiss officials. He shared the update through his Telegram channel.

Following the talks, which included Ukrainian parliamentary faction leader David Arakhamia and US representatives — Special Envoy Stephen Whitcoff and Jared Kushner — the Ukrainian delegation held an exchange of views with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to review the outcomes of the negotiations and discuss further steps.

“The next round is being prepared. We are working on finalising security parameters, economic decisions, and agreed positions that should form the basis for further agreements. The goal is to make the next trilateral meeting with the participation of the US and Russia as substantive as possible,” Umerov wrote.

He noted that particular attention during the talks was devoted to economic issues and long-term mechanisms for supporting Ukraine. Together with the government’s economic team, including Economy Minister Alexei Sobolev, and American partners, participants conducted detailed work on a document outlining the country’s recovery. The sides agreed to continue refining the plan, including provisions related to future reconstruction efforts and an investment framework.
