New Zealand unveils 36th sanctions package targeting Russia

New Zealand will impose a new round of sanctions against Russia, targeting 33 individuals and entities in its 36th sanctions package, Foreign Minister Winston Peters said, according to the country's official government website.

The measures will include Russian political figures as well as individuals and organisations that Wellington links to Russia’s military-industrial complex. The package will also target representatives from North Korea and Iran, whom New Zealand authorities считают involved in supporting Russia.

The government did not disclose the names of those designated under the latest measures.

The move follows New Zealand’s 35th sanctions package introduced in May, which targeted 20 individuals and entities, including 11 organisations and nine people. Those measures focused on actors linked to Russia’s defence sector.

The earlier package also included sanctions against Russian payment firm A7, which authorities said had been involved in using financial infrastructure to обход existing restrictions.
