NGOs focus on upcoming COP29 in Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani “Health Service” public association has organised a global consultation meeting on “How civil society organisations can participate in COP29”.
The meeting was held online, Report informs.
Up to 80 representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) dealing with ecology and healthcare, climate experts, universities and think tanks from the US, Canada, UK, Moldova, Russia, Albania, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Indonesia, Chad, etc. took part in the videoconference meeting.
The meeting participants discussed the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan, and spoke about their expectations from this event.
Head of the “Health Service” public association Parvana Valiyeva clarified the issues related to the registration of NGOs to participate in COP29 events. She spoke about the procedure for obtaining observer status necessary to participate in discussions on climate change within the COP.
