NGOs from Global South sign several cooperation deals at Baku forum
A series of cooperation agreements were signed between non-governmental organisations from various countries during the inaugural forum of the Global South NGO Platform in Baku.
The Azerbaijani Agency for State Support to NGOs signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Uzbek civil society organisation "Yuksalish" (Renaissance), Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Subsequently, agreements were signed between the Union of Organisations for Disabled Persons and the National Agency of Djibouti for working with persons with disabilities, between the Public Union for the Social Well-being of Citizens and the I AM HUMAN organisation for the rights of persons with disability.
The Eurasian Media Foundation signed a memorandum with the Arab Platform for Renewable Energy, the Public Union "Women, Development, Future" entered into an agreement with the Beninese organization "Future for the Future," the National Forum of NGOs signed a deal with the Latin American branch of the South-South Cooperation Council, the Union of Children of Azerbaijan signed a memorandum with the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPSs), and the Constitution Research Fund signed an agreement with the Federation of Syrian Turkmen Associations.
The Global South NGO Platform, established in Baku on April 28, brings together prominent NGO leaders and civil society representatives from 116 countries where approximately 80% of the world's population lives.
The conference is considered a significant event in the life of civil society in the Global South, which covers Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania regions - two-thirds of the world's countries.
