No injuries after gunfire at US consulate in Toronto, probe underway
Police say shots were fired at the US consulate in Toronto early morning of March 10. Toronto Police Service said in a post on X that officers responded to reports of gunfire at around 5:29 a.m. local time.
Authorities said evidence of a discharged firearm was found at the scene, adding that there were no injuries, ABC News reports.
Representatives for the United States Consulate General in Toronto and the United States Department of State did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In a separate post, police said they had no information about a potential suspect and confirmed that officers remain at the scene as the investigation continues. No details regarding a possible motive were provided.
In a separate incident on March 8, an improvised device exploded near the Embassy of the United States in Oslo in Oslo, Norway. Police said they are still searching for a suspect. Investigators are examining several possible motives, including a potential link to the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
