No reports of Azerbaijani casualties in Israeli strikes on Iran Foreign Ministry says
There have been no reports of Azerbaijani citizens among the casualties following Israel's large-scale military operation against Iran, Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In a response to an inquiry from local media, Hajizada noted that the ministry's hotlines have not received any information indicating the presence of Azerbaijani nationals among the victims of the June 13 airstrikes, Caliber.Az reports
The operation targeted over 100 locations across Iran, including military and nuclear sites in Tehran, Natanz, Ahvaz, and East Azerbaijan Province. According to Israeli sources, the coordinated strikes involved about 200 fighter jets and aimed to disrupt Iran's nuclear program and eliminate senior military figures.
In response to the growing hostilities, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry had earlier issued a strong travel advisory urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel to both Iran and Israel. The ministry also called on Azerbaijani nationals currently in either country to remain vigilant and prioritise their safety.
Tensions in the region continue to mount, with Iran accusing Israel and the United States of carrying out the attack and vowing retaliation. Tehran has since launched a wave of drones toward Israeli territory and temporarily closed its airspace.
