Norwegian MFA announces recruitment of Russian-speaking personnel
Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced plans to expand its pool of employees with professional experience in Russia and Eastern Europe, citing the growing need for expertise on Russian society, culture and history.
According to a notice published on the ministry’s website, the first group recruitment session will take place online on December 16, during which applicants will speak with ministry staff based in Oslo, Moscow, Kyiv and Washington, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The discussions are expected to focus on how candidates’ Russian-language skills and regional knowledge could be applied to “interesting and important positions” within Norway’s diplomatic service.
The ministry notes that Russia’s actions against Ukraine have significantly reduced direct contact between Oslo and Moscow.
As a result, understanding developments inside Russia — and their implications for Norway, Europe and the wider international community — has become increasingly important.
