Opposition rally starts in Armenia
The opposition rally, which is being held on Republic Square in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, has started with a prayer and joint singing of the Armenian anthem.
The rally, which involves several tens of thousands of people, is broadcast by local news websites. The video footage was demonstrated on the monitor. The actions of the special forces were condemned there, according to TASS.
Protests, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, head of the Tavush Patriarchal Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, started after Baku and Yerevan agreed on border delimitation in the Tavush region.
In fact, Yerevan agreed to transfer four villages that were part of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic to Baku. The villages have been under the control of Armenia since the 1990s. The Tavush for the Motherland movement demands the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accusing him of unilaterally transferring the villages to Azerbaijan.
