Turkmenistan, IAEA finalizing long-term nuclear cooperation plan
Turkmenistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are in the process of finalizing a new Framework Program of Cooperation that will guide bilateral activities from 2025 through 2029, the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The initiative was discussed during a recent round of consultations between representatives of the Turkmen government and IAEA officials, Caliber.Az reports.
The draft program outlines strategic priorities for collaboration, particularly in the peaceful application of nuclear technologies in various civilian sectors.
“The sides discussed the coordination of a draft Framework Program for the country for 2025–2029 between the Government of Turkmenistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Interest was expressed in signing this document in the near future,” the ministry stated in an official release.
In addition to long-term planning, the discussions also addressed the progress of current joint projects, with a specific focus on the use of IAEA technical expertise in the development of Turkmenistan’s healthcare system.
