Iranian lawmaker denies resumption of IAEA inspections at nuclear sites
Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, has rejected speculation about a possible resumption of inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Speaking to Tasnim News Agency on August 4, Azizi clarified that an IAEA delegation scheduled to visit Iran next week will not be granted access to any nuclear sites, Caliber.Az reports.
“The visit is limited strictly to technical and expert-level discussions with Iranian officials,” he stated.
Citing Iranian parliamentary law, Azizi emphasised that Iran will not permit any form of physical inspection of its nuclear facilities under any circumstances.
“No inspector from the IAEA or any other foreign entity will be allowed to visit Iran’s nuclear sites,” he said.
He further stressed that Iran’s engagement with international organizations will remain limited to technical cooperation aimed at exchanging expert opinions and addressing ambiguities.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed on August 4 that a technical delegation from the IAEA is expected to arrive in Tehran within the next 10 days.
The visit, he said, is part of ongoing technical consultations between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog.
