Hundreds detained as Moscow police launch major migrant crackdown
Police in southeast Moscow have brought 241 foreign nationals to territorial divisions of the city’s Internal Affairs Directorate as part of ongoing operational and preventive measures.
Authorities drew up 226 administrative protocols against the migrants, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
These include 47 cases under Part 1 of Article 18.8 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences, relating to violations of entry and residence regulations. Under Part 2 of Article 18.8, protocols were issued against 34 individuals, with deportation orders applied.
Additional violations included 15 cases of migration registration breaches, two instances of illegal employment, and offences under Articles 20.25, 20.20, and 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences.
Traffic police also recorded 121 further violations. All materials have been submitted to courts and relevant territorial units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the raid, law enforcement officers reportedly uncovered four crimes allegedly committed by foreign nationals, including illegal drug trafficking, vehicle theft, bribery, and the manufacture or distribution of forged documents.
As part of the operation, authorities inspected more than 350 apartments, 100 commercial premises, seven catering establishments, a car service centre, a car wash, a parking facility, 10 transport hubs, and 574 vehicles.
