Russians top list of new Georgian citizens in 2025

A total of 2,333 foreign nationals received Georgian citizenship in 2025, marking a decrease of around 35% compared to the previous year.

Russian citizens formed the largest group among new citizens, with 1,393 people granted citizenship, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

Geostat data showed the Russians were followed by citizens of Germany (296), Ukraine (114), Armenia (104), and the United States (81).

Of those who obtained Georgian passports, 576 were born outside Georgia.

Most of the new citizens were over the age of 40, totalling 1,519 individuals, including 18 people aged over 80.

Citizenship was also granted to 189 minors.
