Iran says it will only use diplomacy under real conditions

Iran has outlined strict conditions for any potential diplomatic engagement with the United States, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stressing that talks would only take place under what he described as “realistic and rational” circumstances. 

Baghaei commended Pakistan for its mediation efforts aimed at ending what he described as an “imposed war” and restoring stability in the region, while reiterating that “Iran was not the initiator of the conflict,”  the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated.

Baghaei stated that “Iran was not the initiator of this imposed war, and all Iranian actions were carried out within the natural right of self-defence against military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime.”

He added that Iran is closely monitoring developments on both political and military fronts and will take necessary measures to protect its national interests and security. According to him, the country’s armed forces remain fully prepared for a comprehensive and decisive defence against any threats or acts of aggression.

Addressing the issue of investigations into damage and alleged “war crimes,” Baghaei said Iran would use all available mechanisms to hold aggressors accountable and seek compensation for damages.

On the question of potential negotiations with the United States, the spokesperson emphasized that diplomacy is “a tool for safeguarding national interests and security,” adding that Iran would only engage in it when “realistic and rational conditions” are created to protect national interests and consolidate what he described as the achievements of the Iranian people in confronting adversaries.
