Russian air defence shoots down 24 Ukrainian drones overnight
Russian air defence forces shot down 24 Ukrainian drones overnight in a series of incidents across four regions, according to the country’s Ministry of Defence.
In a statement published via its official Telegram channel, the ministry said the drones — all fixed-wing types — were intercepted between 10:00 p.m. on August 4 and 1:40 a.m. on August 5, Caliber.Az reports.
The majority of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were brought down over the Bryansk region, where 13 were reported destroyed. Others were intercepted in Rostov, Kaluga, and Smolensk regions.
The ministry reported no casualties or damage resulting from the attempted attacks.
The use of long-range drones has become increasingly frequent as the war in Ukraine continues, with both sides targeting infrastructure and military positions far behind the front lines.
