Iran rejects US conditions for ending Middle East conflict

Iran will not accept conditions proposed by the United States for ending the conflict in the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said.

“Iran will not accept the conditions for ending the war put forward by the US. [...] The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran at all levels are, without a shadow of a doubt, resolute in defending the state,” Baghaei said, according to Tasnim news agency.

Baghai said the country that initiated the armed conflict should be held responsible for its actions.

The United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

However, the United States resumed large-scale strikes against Iran on July 8, accusing Tehran of violating agreements related to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy route, carrying approximately 25% of global oil trade and around 20% of liquefied natural gas shipments.
