Georgia deports 22 foreign nationals in crackdown on illegal migration VIDEO
Georgia has deported 22 foreign nationals as part of its continuing efforts to tighten border controls and enforce immigration laws, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
According to the ministry, the individuals expelled came from a range of countries, including Iraq, Russia, Iran, India, Türkiye, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kenya, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
In a statement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said all those deported had been residing in Georgia without legal authorisation and are now barred from re-entering the country under current legislation.
“The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is tasked with combating illegal migration within the country’s borders. One of its primary responsibilities is to identify foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal authorisation and to facilitate their expulsion,” the Ministry stated.
