Erdoğan pledges diplomatic efforts amid regional tensions
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on March 20 that Ankara has mobilised all available resources to resume dialogue and diplomatic initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Speaking during a meeting with residents of Rize Pprovince, Erdoğan warned that recent escalations involving Iran have further destabiliaed the region, citing numerous casualties not only in Iran but also in Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He noted that at least a thousand people have been killed in Lebanon and that over one million individuals have been forcibly displaced. Erdoğan emphasised that Türkiye is closely monitoring events and is committed to preventing the country from being drawn into conflicts.
The Turkish leader also highlighted the ongoing standoff between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said Türkiye had helped broker a ceasefire between Islamabad and Kabul for the duration of the Ramadan holiday and that Ankara is working to make this temporary lull permanent.
Erdoğan concluded by expressing hope that the current difficult period for the region would soon come to an end.
