Iran calls regional conflict testing ground for its weapons
The fighting in the Persian Gulf region has served as a testing ground for Iran's defence industry and demonstrated the need for the Islamic Republic to make effective use of its domestic resources, Iran's Ministry of Defence has stated ahead of Defence Industry Day on August 21.
It said every new pressure or sanction underscored the need to rely on domestic resources, while every area opened up new opportunities for the country's specialists, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Iranian government website.
“What has been created and developed over the years through the knowledge and efforts of Iranian defence industry specialists was put into practice and, together with the capabilities of the Iranian armed forces, thwarted a significant part of the plans and objectives of the adversaries and left them shocked,” the ministry noted.
