Armenian president off to Turkmenistan to attend UN-backed conference
President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan from August 4 to 7, 2025, to participate in the Third International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and Transit Developing Countries.
The high-level forum, held under the auspices of the United Nations, is taking place in the city of Turkmenbashi. Convened once every decade, the conference serves as a platform to assess past efforts and formulate new strategies to address the challenges faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the Armenian president’s office, bilateral meetings with several foreign counterparts are also planned during the visit.
Previous editions of the conference led to the adoption of major policy frameworks, including the Almaty Programme of Action in 2003 and the Vienna Programme of Action for 2014–2024. These initiatives focused on improving trade, transit infrastructure, and regional cooperation.
This year’s agenda will cover key topics such as enhancing transport and transit corridors, expanding digital connectivity, improving climate resilience, strengthening economic sustainability, and boosting international investment.
