Orban to Zelenskyy: Hungary will not yield to pressure

25 January 2026 22:34

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Budapest would not succumb to pressure or threats following remarks directed at him by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Hungary will not be intimidated. Presidents come and go, personal insults can occur, but Hungary’s dignity is a non-negotiable,” Orban wrote on X, adding that Zelenskyy would do well to remember this, Caliber.Az reports.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelenskyy said, among other things, that “every ‘Viktor’ who lives off European money while trying to sell out European interests deserves a smack upside the head.”

Responding to the remarks, Orban warned that life would eventually put everything in its place and that everyone would get what they deserve. He also described Zelenskyy as a person who cannot or does not want to end the war.
