Over 1,200 apartment buildings in Kyiv remain without heating, says Zelenskyy
More than 1,200 apartment buildings in Ukraine’s capital remain without heating, down from 1,676 on January 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Telegram.
He made the remarks during a special video conference addressing regions currently experiencing the most severe energy supply issues, Caliber.Az reports.
“We discussed with local leaders and officials how to provide assistance as quickly as possible. So far, the timelines mentioned cannot be considered satisfactory – action must be taken faster,” Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that he had instructed all reports on the readiness of social infrastructure, schools, and support centres in Kyiv to be checked to ensure they could effectively assist people. He also mentioned that the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine had reported on the provision of heating points, hot meals, and mobile communication.
“I tasked the Prime Minister of Ukraine, together with the Minister of Finance, to analyse the possibilities—particularly for Kyiv—to urgently procure everything currently needed for alternative electricity generation and heating supply. The Minister of Energy of Ukraine remains in constant contact with partners and, together with local authorities, is to determine the list of additional support for Ukraine and the means to secure it in the coming days and weeks,” the Ukrainian leader stressed.
