Over 43,000 foreigners denied entry in Russia last year — ministry

More than 7.5 million foreigners passed through international airports in the Moscow region and the Mashtakovo border checkpoint (Orenburg region) over the past year, with over 43,000 individuals denied entry to Russia.
Spokesperson for the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk, shared the figures on her Telegram channel, per Caliber.Az.
A biometric data collection experiment for foreigners began at these checkpoints on 1 December 2024.
Under the new system, photos and fingerprints of foreigners crossing the state border at these points are entered into the Interior Ministry databases.
The initiative, conducted by the Interior Ministry, aims to enhance migration security in Russia.
