Pakistan declares end of military operation against India
Pakistan’s military has declared the successful conclusion of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, a retaliatory strike launched on May 10 in response to what it described as Indian military aggression along the Line of Control.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that the operation was conducted as part of the broader military campaign Marka-e-Haq (official name given to the broader conflict from the 22nd of April to the 10th of May), Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.
It followed deadly attacks by Indian forces on the night of May 6–7, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of civilians, including women and children.
The operation, involving coordinated action across land, air, sea, and cyber domains, targeted Indian military installations and infrastructure in both Indian-administered Kashmir and mainland India. The Pakistani Armed Forces used long-range Fatah-series missiles, loitering munitions, precision-guided artillery, and cyber capabilities to strike 26 military sites.
Targets included Indian Air Force bases, BrahMos missile storage facilities, S-400 air defence systems, and intelligence posts allegedly linked to cross-border terrorism.
The military claimed several of the targeted Indian installations sustained “major damage,” and said drones operated by Pakistan hovered over sensitive Indian locations to demonstrate long-range unmanned capabilities. The ISPR also stated that cyber operations were employed to disrupt Indian military communications and infrastructure during the conflict.
A ceasefire was reportedly reached following mediation by US President Donald Trump, with both sides agreeing to halt hostilities immediately. The Pakistani military said it had not requested the ceasefire but accepted it in the interest of regional stability.
In a detailed statement, the ISPR expressed gratitude to the Pakistani nation, media, diplomatic corps, scientists, engineers, and political leadership for their unified support during the confrontation. It said the response was a “textbook” example of joint military synergy and served as a warning that any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with decisive retaliation.
The ISPR further alleged that India intensified proxy terrorist activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan during the conflict to divert Pakistan’s attention. It reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to national defence, warning that any future provocations would elicit a comprehensive response.
The announcement followed initial talks between Indian and Pakistani Directors General of Military Operations via a military hotline, signalling a potential de-escalation.
