13 April 2026 15:12

Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation with his Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi during which they discussed recent US–Iran talks held in Islamabad and Pakistan’s role in mediation efforts.

Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Japanese PM for her good wishes and expressed Islamabad’s appreciation to the US and Iranian delegations for participating in the talks, Caliber.Az reports, citing X page of the Pakistani government.

The post reads that the conversation also focused on the continuation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing efforts to uphold the ceasefire regime, further expressing interest in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan, a position reportedly supported by the Japanese side.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on issues of mutual interest.
