The Kahramanmaraş school attack that occurred on 15 April 2026 has been widely reported by international media as one of the deadliest school shootings in Türkiye’s recent history.
According to the reports, a 14-year-old student opened fire inside Ayser Çalık Secondary School, killing at least nine people, including both students and a teacher, and injuring more than a dozen others before dying at the scene.
Authorities stated that the attacker used multiple firearms believed to belong to his father, a former law enforcement officer, and entered two classrooms during the assault, which caused panic and mass evacuation attempts.
The incident came just one day after another school shooting in a nearby province, raising broader concerns about school security and illegal firearm access in the country.
