Pakistan reminds India to respect sovereignty after deadly cross-border violence

13 May 2025 14:04

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that his country is fully capable of responding to any act of aggression, pointing to the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as clear evidence of the nation's resolve and military readiness.

His statement came in the wake of India’s reported military actions, which resulted in the tragic loss of 40 innocent lives, including women and children, Caliber.Az reports per Pakistani media.

In a somber address, the premier expressed profound grief over the martyrdom of these civilians, offering prayers for the elevation of their ranks in the afterlife and strength for their grieving families. "The martyrs of the nation will never be forgotten," he affirmed, pledging that the state would continue to stand by the families of those affected. "A special package for the martyrs has already been announced, and we will fully support their families. We will not leave them alone," Sharif vowed.

Addressing the broader issue of India’s actions, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan's stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity. "India has now been made to realise that it must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional nations," he stated, underscoring the significance of Pakistan's response to external aggression.

Sharif further praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their decisive actions, which, according to him, effectively dismantled India’s perceived superiority in terms of military strength. "We are a peaceful nation, but we know how to respond to any act of aggression — and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos is undeniable proof," the prime minister concluded.
