Pakistan, Uzbekistan FMs discuss regional cooperation after Islamabad MoU
Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to closer diplomatic engagement and regional stability following a telephone conversation between their foreign ministers, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a call from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, during which both sides discussed recent diplomatic developments, including the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, Caliber.Az reports.

Saidov conveyed congratulations on behalf of Uzbekistan’s leadership and praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating the agreement.
He also commended the leadership of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Chief Asim Munir, and Foreign Minister Dar, describing their role as constructive in advancing the process.
Uzbekistan also acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts as a mediator and its contribution to broader regional peace initiatives.
Both ministers expressed optimism that the progress achieved would continue into the next phase of engagement, with the aim of promoting long-term peace, stability, and economic cooperation in the region and beyond.
The two sides agreed to maintain close contact on matters of mutual interest, according to the statement.
