Pakistan warns of potential Indian military aggression based on "credible intelligence"

30 April 2025 09:49

Pakistan has raised alarms over the possibility of an impending military conflict with India, warning that the latter may launch a military aggression within the next 24 to 36 hours.

The statement was issued by Pakistan's Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, on his social media platform, citing “credible intelligence” sources, Caliber.Az reports.

According to Tarar, Pakistan’s intelligence services have provided credible reports indicating that India is preparing for military action against Pakistan. “Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours,” the minister stated.

The warning comes amid growing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, which have been escalating over the past week. On the evening of April 29, a brief but intense exchange of gunfire occurred along the Sialkot sector of the international border after India allegedly violated the ceasefire agreement. The incident lasted for approximately 30 minutes, further heightening concerns of a military escalation.

In response to the rising threat, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, emphasised that the country is fully prepared to defend itself. “The possibility of military intervention on Indian territory exists. We have strengthened our power. Strategic decisions will be made,” Asif remarked in an interview with the EFE news agency.

Clashes have intensified in recent days along the India-Pakistan border, with reports of artillery fire and skirmishes in the Jammu region. According to the Telegram channel Mash, fighting has been reported along the official international boundary, a departure from the usual confrontations along the Line of Control (LoC), which typically demarcates disputed areas in the region.

The most recent flare-up of violence between India and Pakistan began on April 22, when militants from the "Kashmir Resistance" group launched an attack on Indian tourists in the Jammu and Kashmir states. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people, including Indian Air Force and Navy officers. Eyewitnesses stated that the militants specifically targeted non-Muslim individuals, asking for their names and religious affiliations before opening fire.

The situation further escalated on April 29 when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi authorised the Indian military to respond with "full operational freedom," granting them discretion over methods, targets, and timing of their response to Pakistan’s actions.
