Pakistani leader to attend major Victory Day ceremonies in Azerbaijan
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on November 7–8, 2025, to take part in the celebrations marking the fifth anniversary of Victory Day.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Sharif’s trip comes at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, will undertake an official visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the events marking the Fifth Anniversary of Victory Day, being commemorated in Baku," the ministry’s statement said.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif will attend the official Victory Day celebrations and hold talks with President Aliyev. Discussions will focus on reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations and identifying new avenues to further deepen cooperation in diverse sectors, including trade and investment, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity.
The Foreign Ministry noted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share "long-standing fraternal relations, rooted in shared faith, history, culture, and mutual trust." It also emphasised that both nations maintain close coordination in regional and international platforms such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), and the United Nations (UN).
“The visit by the Prime Minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and further advance the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations,” the statement concluded.
