Paris tightens security following threats against US banks
Paris authorities have ramped up security measures after a foiled attack near a Bank of America branch on March 28 and credible threats targeting Goldman Sachs offices, Le Parisien reports.
Since April 2, heightened protection has been implemented at key religious, cultural, and economic sites, as well as diplomatic missions across the French capital.
French authorities received a warning on the night of April 2 from the London branch of Goldman Sachs, citing US intelligence reports that a pro-Iranian radical group was preparing potential bomb attacks against bank locations. Paris prosecutors later confirmed that no “suspicious elements” were found at the Goldman Sachs building on Avenue Marceau.
The increased security follows the arrest of a 17-year-old on March 28, who allegedly planned to carry out an explosion outside the Bank of America branch on Rue La Boétie in central Paris.
