Pentagon transfers hundreds of military personnel to Portland under Trump directive
Hundreds of federal personnel from the California National Guard are being redeployed from the Los Angeles area to Portland, Oregon, as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest security directive.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated that approximately 200 federal National Guard members from California have been reassigned from the Greater Los Angeles area to Portland, Caliber.Az reports, citing Western media.
The statement said their mission will be "to support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal personnel performing official duties, including the enforcement of federal law, and to protect federal property."
In September, Portland witnessed large-scale protests sparked by the Trump administration’s strict immigration policies and the actions of ICE against foreign nationals residing in the United States.
