Poland puts military aviation on alert amid Russian strikes on Ukraine

Poland has begun deploying military aviation in its airspace in response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory, according to a statement by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

The measures are preventive in nature and are primarily aimed at protecting regions adjacent to areas where a threat exists, Caliber.Az reports.

“The Air Force Component Command has mobilised the necessary forces and assets at its disposal. Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached a state of readiness,” the statement added.

The command emphasised that the situation remains under close watch, while its forces and assets stand ready to respond immediately.

Following the decision, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) announced that civilian flight departures and arrivals at the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów had been temporarily suspended at the military’s request to ensure freedom of action for military aviation.
