12 May 2025 12:17

Poland has revoked the work permit of Russian Consulate General in Krakow.

"Due to evidence that the Russian special services committed a reprehensible act of sabotage against the shopping centre on Marywilska Street, I have decided to withdraw my consent to the operation of the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Krakow," Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Radosław Sikorski wrote on XCaliber.Az writes.

In response to the revocation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned Poland's actions, calling them “inadequate” and warning of retaliatory measures.

“Warsaw continues to deliberately collapse relations, acting against the interests of citizens. An adequate response to these inadequate steps will follow soon,” Zakharova remarked in a statement.

Similarly, in October 2024, Sikorski announced the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan due to allegations of organisation of arson attempts in Wroclaw. In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry closed the Polish consulate in St. Petersburg.
