Poland to reopen border crossings with Belarus
23 September 2025 17:22
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on September 23 that border, rail, and road crossings with Belarus will be reopened at midnight on September 24–25, following their closure earlier this month during the Russian-Belarusian Zapad military drills.
The border had been shut since September 11, with crossings blocked as part of Poland’s response to the large-scale drills, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
Tusk said ahead of a government meeting that the decision to reopen did not remove the government’s authority to close crossings again if necessary.
He stressed that Poland would not hesitate to reinstate restrictions if tensions rose or if Belarus and Russia engaged in aggressive behaviour.
