Poland urges Europe not to put pressure on Ukrainian leader
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz has said that French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz could benefit from a visit to Ukraine.
“This visit may change their attitude towards the war. We will see the effect after this trip,” Przydacz noted, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to Polish Radio.
He added that the visit to Ukraine made a great impression on President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
The Polish deputy foreign minister stressed that at the beginning of the Russian invasion, their position was ambiguous, however, after visiting Ukraine, they understood what war is.
“I am not kidding myself. These three European leaders [President Macron, Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi] will definitely change their attitude. Their attitude today is certainly different. We should work for them not to put pressure on Volodymyr Zelenskyy about any concessions. I don't understand why Ukraine should forgive Russia something. Will any Western country want to help Russian President Vladimir Putin save prestige?” he added.
Earlier the information went viral that Scholz, President Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi are planning a joint trip to Ukraine’s Kyiv city in late June 2022, ahead of the G7 summit scheduled for June 26-28, 2022.
