Polish airports restore flights after brief halt during Russian attack on Ukraine
Airports in the Polish cities of Rzeszów and Lublin temporarily suspended operations on January 20 amid a coordinated Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine, with flights later fully restored.
Poland’s armed forces said there was no threat to Polish airspace and described the measures as routine, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“Due to the need to ensure freedom of action for military aviation, airports in Rzeszów and Lublin suspended flight operations,” the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency said in a morning statement.
Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk also confirmed Poland’s precautionary military measures, adding that the forces activate their systems when Russia scrambles bombers or missile-capable fighter jets.
