Polish PM says Russian attacks are “getting closer”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned of very difficult weeks and months ahead, saying that Russia’s attacks are “getting closer” to their border.

Speaking at a government meeting, he stated that the danger is “linked to Russia’s extremely aggressive stance towards Ukraine,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.

He assured that the government and special services were focused on preventing the threat from spreading to Polish territory.

“We are focused on ensuring that nothing bad happens on the Polish side,” the prime minister said.

Tusk was commenting on an incident that occurred on September 28 near the Polish-Ukrainian border crossing between Dorohusk and Yahodyn. A Russian drone struck on the Ukrainian side near the border with Poland.

“Every night or throughout the day, we are forced to scramble our aircraft repeatedly, because Russian attacks near the Polish border, specifically targeting border crossings and infrastructure near the border, have already become a constant occurrence,” the prime minister added.

He stressed that Polish services remained on heightened alert due to the situation across the country’s eastern border.
