Politico: US seeks to build new trust paradigm between Russia and Europe
The United States is aiming to strengthen trust between Russia and Europe through de-escalation, a U.S. administration official told Politico.
“There’s obviously not a lot of trust right now between Europe and Russia, but we want to create a framework where that can start a new paradigm that can start building trust by showing real de-escalation,” the source said.
According to Politico, consultations held in Abu Dhabi included delegations from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, with particular attention paid to economic issues and oversight of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The U.S. official highlighted that both sides are beginning to recognise the potential benefits of peace. “Both parties are starting to envision what they can gain from peace, like the prosperity plan for Ukraine, some of these opportunities for Russia to do business deals with the United States of America,” the source added.
