President: Israel’s military action against Iran aims to secure peaceful future for Middle East

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has stated that the military operation against Iran is being conducted for a peaceful future in the Middle East, emphasising that Tehran must under no circumstances be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

“Freedom is not preserved by words alone—it demands courage, vigilance, and the resolve to act when necessary,” Caliber.Az reports, citing President Herzog’s message on X.

“Every delay of the Iranian nuclear threat, every Iranian missile intercepted, every drone neutralized, helps to defend and protect innocent lives—not only in Israel, but across the region and beyond. We are deeply grateful to the brave Israeli servicemen and women who carry this burden with courage and resolve. For decades, the Iranian regime has worked to spread terror, destabilize the region, and attack Jewish communities and other nations—while actively threatening the very existence of the Jewish state through both words and deeds. Its empire of evil proxies, who carried out the October 7 massacre, still hold 53 innocent hostages in Gaza under brutal conditions. We demand their immediate release. This is a struggle for the safety of the Middle East and the world. This is a battle for a more peaceful future in the Middle East. This is a battle for the values of the free world. Iran must not have nuclear capabilities,” he added.

On June 13, the military operation launched by Israel against key components of Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure has escalated to a much harsher level. According to Israeli statements, the objective remains the complete elimination of the Islamic Republic’s capability to develop nuclear weapons.

The Israeli Air Force has struck more than a hundred targets, deploying approximately 200 combat aircraft and over 330 precision-guided munitions, according to official figures. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) emphasises that this is a large-scale, coordinated operation targeting both military facilities and the nuclear programme infrastructure across the entire territory of Iran.
