President’s special rep: Karabakh can be called eco-region of Azerbaijan
Special representative of the Azerbaijani President in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts Vahid Hajiyev has said that the Karabakh region as a whole can be called an eco-region of Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, by his decree, declared the territories liberated from occupation a “green energy” zone. In this regard, solar panels are installed on all buildings, whether residential or administrative,” Hajiyev told reporters, according to Report.
“Four small hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 42 kilowatts have already been put into operation in the Zangilan district. Moreover, a hydroelectric power station with the Archimedian hydro turbine was built in Agali village, which fully meets the villagers’ electricity needs,” he noted.
The special representative of the president reminded that the Jabrayil and Zangilan districts have great potential for the development of solar energy.
“Taking into account this potential, UK’s bp company plans to build a power plant with a capacity of 240 megawatts in Jabrayil, while the Nobel Energy company together with its partners will build a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts,” he added.
