President’s spokesman claims Russia’s losses following accident at Nord Stream

Spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov has said that Russia bears losses from the Nord Stream accident.

Gas is expensive, and now it is leaking into the air, half of it has already been planned to be used for the country's internal needs, Prime quotes Peskov as saying on September 28.

“This is a big problem for us, because, firstly, both lines of Nord Stream 2 are filled with gas, and all systems are ready for pumping, and this gas is very expensive. I would like to remind of the president's statement that half of this gas has already been planned to be used for our internal needs,” he said, adding that expensive gas is leaking into the air.

The spokesman said that the president said that "if you come to your senses later, keep in mind that there will be only a half rather than 100 per cent of gas.

While answering a question about the timing of repairing damage at Nord Stream and assessing the situation, Peskov added that the Russian side does not yet understand what to repair, because it does not understand what happened there.

He noted that moreover, the pipelines have an owner – Gazprom company.

Peskov added that the Russian company should take part in the investigation of the situation.
