Qatar gas-to-liquids facility damaged in attack, fire extinguished

Shell reported that March 18 attack on Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City caused damage to its Pearl GTL facility, but emphasized that the fire was quickly extinguished, no injuries were reported, and the facility is now in a “safe state.”

Shell holds a 100% stake in Pearl GTL, which has the capacity to process up to 1.6 billion cubic feet per day of wellhead gas and convert it into approximately 140,000 barrels per day of gas-to-liquids products, France 24 reports.

The company’s statement reassures that despite the attack, operations remain secure and no personnel were harmed.
