Qatar holds talks with Türkiye, Saudi Arabia on Iran escalation
Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held separate telephone talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss the latest developments surrounding the military escalation between the United States and Iran.
According to Qatar's foreign ministry, during the calls, Sheikh Mohammed condemned attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, saying such incidents undermine confidence, threaten the security of international shipping and hinder efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote regional stability.
He also stressed the importance of all parties adhering to the commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding and continuing dialogue and diplomatic engagement to safeguard regional security.
The Qatari foreign minister reaffirmed Doha's support for initiatives aimed at preventing further escalation and securing a comprehensive agreement that would help strengthen peace and stability across the Middle East.
