Qatar: No single country can resolve Strait of Hormuz crisis alone
Resolving the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz is not the responsibility of a single country, but of all states in the region, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said during a press briefing.
Al-Ansari noted that all Gulf countries maintain direct daily contact with various parties involved, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“Continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz turns the crisis from regional to an international crisis. (…) The crisis is ours, and the crisis of our region. That’s why we have direct contacts,” he said.
The spokesperson also stated that Qatar is in contact with all sides, including the United States, regarding talks in Islamabad.
“We do not want to talk about the failure of the negotiations [between US and Iran]. The entire world is supporting these negotiations, including us. And we are supporting our brothers in Pakistan,” Majed Al-Ansari said.
He added that Qatar views mediation as an effective role when it helps move parties toward a political solution.
